The Ghost of Burgate, Canterbury

The Ghost of Burgate, Canterbury

The ghost of Burgate is another of Canterbury’s often seen but remarkably elusive figures. When he appears, he is visible clearly enough. The phantom bustles down the street apparantly in some hurry to get to where he is going and giving every appearance of impatience and fussing. He is dressed in a long pale cloak, so it is generally thought that he is a monk or clergyman from centuries past. What his mission might be and why he feels the need for haste are quite unknown.
